Earlier in the year I had the occasion to photograph one of my favorite tipples being made in the traditional way.
The customary time to start brewing at the Wadworth Brewery is around 5am,so it was a nice early start, and lots of self control at the bar in the hotel the night before. The modern brewing process is carried out by computed controlled,state of the art, stainless steel equipment. This still delivers the same product, but is rather uninspiring to photograph. Much more interesting is the old copper kettle, which is still used for smaller batches. The sounds, smells and atmosphere as the process gathers momentum are incredible, and the appearance of the large “copper” at “full steam”, unearthly!
